1. Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan

The Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan is like no other, the beauty of the place overwhelming. Bhutan the first country to collect a yearly national Happiness Index from every citizen! Simplicity and contentment are an integral part of the personality of the people that are hard to find or explain in world of today.

Clinging to the sheer cliff face at 3000 metres above Paro Valley, The Tiger’s Nest monastery or   Paro Taktsang, is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site .

The legend of Taktshang (Tiger’s lair) evolved form 747 AD.  A temple complex was first built in 1692.

It took me just over 3 hours to trek up to the temple waved along by colourful prayer flags fluttering gaily to send prayers along with the mountain winds.
