The Kabul river is the classical Cophen as referred to in Arrian’s  ‘The Campaigns of Alexander’

The Kabul River which empties into the Indus , is the main river in eastern Afghanistan and the Khyber Pakhtunwala province ( the old  North West Frontier Province ) of Pakistan.
