The deep gorge that is the Siq with its 70m side walls runs for 1.2 km before narrowing further . The narrow dark siq suddenly widens to reveal the ‘Treasury’ bathed in sunlight. The twists of the Siq create spectacular shadows against the heavy grains of the red sandstone against the strange natural rock formations. At night the narrow dark Siq acts as a telescope that allows the most dazzling display of stars and meteoric showers to be seen.
