Durga Temple, Aihole in Karnataka, South India.

 

The Durga temple is a medieval  Hindu Temple  located in Aihole  in Karnataka , South India, constructed in the 7th CE constructed by the Chalukya Dynasty.

It marks the transition in style from the ancient Buddhist Chaitya hall to later Hindu temple architecture as it is a rare apsidal or round ended Hindu temple.  The most original feature of the temple is a peristyle delimiting an ambulatory path around the temple itself and whose walls are covered with sculptures of different gods or goddesses.
